So one of our main predicaments on this wonderful adventure that Zach and I are planning is food. Both of us are in the swim team and as a result, our bodies have adapted to eating an incredible amount of food each day. Our issue for planning this trip is that it will be very heavy and not very efficient to carry a cow on the back of our bikes. So, we are doing our best to come up with better, more compact and light meals to bring along with us. Not to mention that we are going to try to be as cheap as possible.
Ever since I was a boy I have gone on camping trips with my family and now when I sit and think about what to eat, my imagination travels back to those days. In the morning we usually ate oatmeal or made pancakes out of a mix. Throughout the day we would snack on trail mix and for lunch would be sandwiches. For dinner we would have a variety of things like chili, soup, beans, pasta, and lentils.
As far as our trip out to Maine and back, we are planning to go off of this fairly closely. Here are some things we have been thinking of.
This is an ever-changing list. If we get new information that something is not healthy for us then we will remove it, yet when we hear if another good idea for food, we will put it on. As a side note, Zach and I are bring a collapsible fishing pole just in case we want to try to fish our supper. Other than that, this list is fairly accurate. As you can see, we have found some great variety in our quenchers. If you have any tips, ideas, or things to add just comment or send us an email! Hope you enjoy!
